Edgenuity is an online learning platform that employs teachers certified in the state of Iowa to teach and provide feedback to students on the Iowa Core standards. The program is flexible, in that it is available to students at their own schedule during the day. Learning projects and classwork is submitted to teachers online, and quizzes and tests are completed on the computer. Elementary students do have printed workbooks with practice activities to help with instruction.
In order to receive credit, courses must be 100% complete by the end of the semester. The Louisa-Muscatine virtual attendance policy is that students must spend a minimum of 120 minutes per day actively participating on the Edgenuity platform. Half days will be counted for every 60 minutes of work Monday through Friday each week. This is monitored by Edgenuity reporting to the district. The semester will begin on Monday, January 11th, and will conclude on Thursday, May 20th. Spring break will be scheduled according to the district calendar.
Students will be requested to make a quarter-long commitment to working online. A grace period will be granted to drop the program if it is not a good fit for your family. Secondary students will be contacted about enrolling in elective courses via email.
If you have any questions, please contact Amy Lantigua, Curriculum Director, by calling the Central Administration Office at 319-726-3541 extension 354.
Enrollment will close for online learning on January 6th.
